ELLIS Recalls America's History of Immigration
Media, and Immigration

JR's haunting film captures the history and humanity of Ellis Island, the gateway to America for millions of immigrants.
ELLIS tells the forgotten story of these immigrants who built America while questioning about those who currently seek the same opportunities and safety in this country and other parts of the world.
For years Ellis Island was the gateway to the United States for millions of immigrants—people who left their pasts behind them to flee poverty, violence, discrimination, war, and famine. In the shadow of the Statue of Liberty, where thousands of men, women and children awaited their fate. The short film starring Robert De Niro, written by Eric Roth, and directed by JR, awakens America’s collective memory—and reminds us that today’s immigrants are no different.
