Ernest Moniz is advancing energy innovation to strengthen the economy and create a vibrant, clean-energy future.

Ernest Moniz is a renowned nuclear physicist and one of the world’s leading experts on climate change, clean energy, and nuclear security. Under President Obama, he served as the nation’s thirteenth Secretary of Energy from 2013 to January 2017. A professor of physics at MIT, Ernest was also the founding director of the MIT Energy Initiative and served as director of MIT’s Laboratory for Energy and the Environment, which researches environment and sustainability issues.

He is also the CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, a nonprofit organization that advances solutions for securing dangerous nuclear material, building international cooperation for nuclear disarmament, and preventing the spread of disease.

As an Emerson Collective Fellow, Ernest is focusing on identifying pathways to drive clean-energy innovation, create jobs, strengthen local economies, and to create a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for the United States.
